|
|
Here's the basic layout for the metal detector comparison chart. To make it easier to test for more exact depths at smaller increments, a pvc pipe will be buried at 45 degrees and the target will be lowered on a string. The vertical length below ground will be calculated. Marks will be made on a string in advance for the equivalent vertical depth of the target. For the smallest targets, a thumbnail sized zip lock with string threaded through it will be used in order to make sure the targets are not lost. If needed, a notched wooden weight will also be attached to the string for the smallest targets. Some of the targets will be large enough so that a fairly wide pvc pipe will have to be used for the testing. Several of the lead fishing weights have a hole and the string will be simply threaded through them. There will be 14 targets, ranging from 20.50 grams to 0.10 grams.
