I've been using a Garmin Etrex Legend for a little while now and would like to say that I have been impressed with it's usefulness and reliability. It finds targets up to about an accuracy of about 16 ft. You can enter gps coordinates into the unit manually and then find those spots in the field. However, I cannot recommend the the Garmin Etrex (the yellow model - the Legend is the blue one). The Etrex does not allow you to pre-enter coordinates into the machine and you are limited to marking places where you are standing in the field. I learned this the hard way since this was not clearly pointed out in the articles and information about this model. I also like the Etrex Legend because it is one of the better buys available to the consumer when you weigh performance vs. cost.

It will probably do just fine, it's a much more expensive model, and should have quite a few extra features as well as a nicer display. The model I mentioned is relatively inexpensive and comes with everything that you need to do the basic job of getting from point A to point B.
