In the process of re-vamping my website pages, I have done up a set of pages on Nevada Opal, turquoise, and Oregon sunstone. There have been a number of discussions on these topics over the months that this segment of the Nevada Nuggets Hunters forum has been running. Take alook and if you have any questions or comments, I'd be happy to talk about them here.
I planing a trip this weekend to try my luck in the opal fields. You point out 3 places to go. From what I can tell the Royal Peacock Opal Mine would be the best one to go to. Do you think that would be the best to go to?
We went there last year at this time of the year. Had a ball, dug in the bank for 2 days and the tailings for 1 day. Found lots of opal but nothing that would be considered gem or collector pieces. However other people there at the same tine certainly did. Nice thing about the RP is they have a (Pay) camgrounfd right there. Plan on leaving a small fortune. This was in the opal shop...
