Not gold related, but probably still worth posting. New estimates put the size of the oil field reserves potentially above those of the middle east. Oil companies are buying land right and left. This is the, "largest 'continuous' oil accumulation ever assessed by the USGS. Two-thirds of the formation are in North Dakota, however, it also stretches into Montana, South Dakota, and southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The size ranges somewhere between 4.3 up to 500 billion barrels according to recent USGS reassessments.
