We are in Carson City and wondering if there is a good place to detect nuggets nearby.

I'm not really familiar with the area and would contact Reno Chris on the Nuggetshooter forum since that is his backyard. I do see on a map here that there are quite a few areas surrounding Carson City where a few hundred ounces were purportedly pulled out at some time in the past. An example of one of those is the Mount Siegel Mining District that is supposed to have had 5,000 ounces extracted from the area. Again, I would contact someone like Reno Chris, maybe he will respond, and some others here on the forum might know more than myself, but I don't know if you will get a response very quickly.

Was thinking about hitting Slater mine but LR2000 shows it's pretty well claimed up if I read it correctly. Can someone verify this as I'm new at this.
