Hendo,

I apologize for the delayed response. Someone else asked that question of me in a personal message and I've reproduced part of my response here:

"Actually, by my saying I'm concentrating on getting married I didn't really mean to imply that I was engaged to be married. I guess that could easily be misinterpreted now that I think about it. I'm just trying to do better with dating, etc. I'm kind of a loner at times, (generally get recharged in solitude better than with seeking company)".

So, no, sorry to disappoint, but I'm not married even though I would like to be.

Rex

Yeah Shep, I've heard you never really quite know what you have until you've married them, then you find out what they're really like, I guess finding a good mate is not an easy task. I suppose they're out there, but more and more it seems girls are interested in gold digging, and I don't mean the harmless nugget shooting type, having fun all the time, and less interested in work, settling down, etc. Too many girls in my generation are slackers so it seems, but on the other hand some are also just very independent and can support themselves financially. There are still decent young ladies out there, but with those two extremes, it seems marriage isn't getting any easier for us guys these days.

Don't worry REX, it took me 6 times to get it right, first wife left me while I was in Nam, secound, well I was gone all the time working, out 30 days or more at a time driving truck. So we just parted ways, third was a drug user, it only lasted until I found out drug ment more to her than me, Forth was older than me by 10 years, that didn't work. She wanted me to quit driving, my life!. fifth was a canadian, she only wantd a green card, she got that. been married to my wife now Dorthy for just short of 16 years. wouldn't trade her for nothing{ well mayb a new 4500} Not! only joking. Grubstake All my X's live in Texas, well three of them anyway!

Grubstake,

Left you while you were in Nam?..That sounds awful! It reminds me a little of a news story I saw yesterday where a guy was giving his kidney to save his wife's life and he found out she was cheating on him at the same time! Some women these days!...but I guess I can't be too hard on them, the way the media portrays women these days it probably really works against them. Glad your current wife is "the one", all it takes is one, thanks for putting it in perspective.

Grubstake, I'e always said that marriage licences should expire like huntin, fishin, driver, occupational licences do.  You could renew if you wanted to or just say the h--l with it.   A small renewal fee each year would also help BOs economy.  Not only that folks may treat each other a little bit better the closer expiration date gets.
