I remember when you could buy large blocky pieces of Tanzanite rough for $8.00-$10.00 per carat back in the late eighties. To this day I'm still kicking myself in the butt for not doing so.

Anyway- in spite of the mines shutting down- I think they'll be some rough coming out for years to come. The production may be dwindling but I don't think it will stop anytime soon. There's always a chance of another discovery in that area too..
