16" round mono nugget finder coil sensitivity

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone who happened to have a nugget finder 16" monocoil might know or be able to run the simple test of how small a nugget can be detected with nugget being swiped back and forth in contact the coil, also wondering about how far out (around a 0.5 gram nugget) can be detected from the coil. The air test with any small nugget on this coil would be appreciated.

I know air tests don't translate well to real buried targets, but it will at least give me a comparison with a 18" and 20" coil air test. I already know the 16" coil will go deep on big gold, just wondering about it's sensitivity performance. I realize it's not meant to be as sensitive as a small coil. I also understand the 16" should be a little more sensitive than the 18" and 20" but I'm just trying to get a better handle on it's performance in that direction. I also realize different detectors etc. will also affect performance, but whatever detector you are using is fine with me, this is just a ball park experiment.

Thanks,

Rex

Hey Rex,
My reply is a little off the subject, but whatever. Laughing

When I was out last weekend, I wanted to air test my new CT 14 mono. I put a 2.8 grain nuglet (It has some iron or something in it too)on the ground . The mono could hear it at about a half inch or under, above that it was a whisper or null.
My intentions were figuring if the coil cant see the nuglet at a inch in air , then I figure it wont see it underground at all. Then theres the settings I have to think about too, maybe I should have tried to tweek the machine a little bit...basically though I was running out of time, because I was going to try with/without the signal enhanser too. I know my 11 ML mono would have screamed on that nuglet ...but I will have to try that next time i`m out if I remember.
My next coil may be the joey for shallow small gold, or maybe the joey could be replaced with that new mono Platypus which could be a real possibility.

later...
