Rye Patch Quartz CrystalsI thought I would post these. I did not find them myself but purchased them from a fellow who lives out by Rye Patch. Some of you may know him by the name of Crystal John, and he also goes by the moniker "Peg Leg". If anyone is out at Rye Patch I recommend you pay him a visit and look over his crystals. Maybe you'll find something you would also like to go home with. His prices are also very reasonable and you won't find a better bargain. If you go up the the last road (most southerly) with tires, I think about two or three roads south of the main Rye Patch road, it should be the Cavanaugh Wash Rd. Go up that into the hills and you should find him there.

Hi Rex:
Nice looking crystals!!! ☺☺☺ I've seen some really strange forms of crystalization
of quartz in Nev for some reason. I think you can find them in just about any gold area if you look hard enough for them. I certainly found my share. Just wish I could have taken some pictures of them. Have given them all away....
Nevada is certainly a rockhounds paradise. Numerous areas for nice material. Jasper and petrified wood at Tuscarora. Apache Tears near Tonopah. Turquoise around Elko. Been to many other areas also.
I wonder if that "Crystal John" is from Idaho....

The quartz crystals are a good indicator of solution and acid that can move gold if it is present. At Rye Patch the massive quartz was eaten away by acid and the crystals formed from the solution.
