Rye Patch TrainingI went to Rye Patch on July 10th through the 12, for some VLF Training and had a very good week, on Tuesday I found two small Nuggets, then on Wednesday, I found two more small nuggets With My Fisher Gold bug 2. On Thursday before the Classes started I went out with my Minelab GP3500 and found a .5 gram Nugget. then durring the Class I found One more small Nugget, after everybody left I found four more nuggets including a 1.9 gram nugget with the fisher Gold Bug 2 and on friday before I had to leave i found one more small nugget with the Gold Bug 2. Not bad for somebody just learning the machine.

Gerry McMullen does some training at Rye Patch several times a year, and he is fery good at all of the machines that he sells. Gerry's web site is www.gerrysdetectors.com. However I am allways willing to share what I have learned with anybody, the detectors that I have been trained on are the GP3500, and the Fisher Gold Bug 2.

Where is Gerry's store or is it just an online deal (not that there is antything wrong with that)
And like Bob said the link appears to be down but says "check back tomorrow. so maybe he is having server problems, I think the given address is correct but a problem on the other end.
Would you consider meeting me out Rye Patch way to do some nugget shooting?
Thanks for the info.

Those are nice Rye Patch nuggets you have there.
The link for Gerry's site had a period at the end that threw it off. Here's a link to his site
http://gerrysdetectors.com/
and also his calendar outing schedule:
http://gerrysdetectors.com/calendar.asp
He was going to be up at Rye Patch the end of Sept. but now his next scheduled outing there is for the first week in October.

That's a really nice haul for that area! What size coil were you using if you dont mind me asking? I've spent about 2 weeks there total, and only found 2 nuggets. Part of my problem was using the 18" coil I had at the time. There just isn't a lot of sensitivity with that coil, but it did find me a nice nugget , down deep, so I can't complain too much.

Vitus, I will Gladly go out and do some nugget shooting with you. Next month I have three Archery tags between my wife and myself to take care of but September I should be able to go out and do some hunting.
Wes, On the Gold bug 2 I use a 6 1/2 inch coil, and on the Minelab in the brushy areas I use a 14 inch eliptical mono coil and in theopen areas I use a 16 inch round mono coil. The .5 gram Nugget I found with the Minelab was with the 16 inch round mono and was about 4 inches deep.

That sounds like a winner.
Where are you going to hunt deer. I did that along time ago but all my hunting partners moved away so now I just try to hit a sillouette shoot every now and then.
Good luck sticking bambi
and we'll see if we can't get together in Sept. for a little nugget shooting

Bill, The 14" Elip is my favorite coil on the minelab. That's pretty much the only coil I use over here in CA now. I also like the coiltek Joey and have found some pieces so small I threw them back to grow. Well not quite but I did think about it.
Thanks

Vitus, .
My deer tag is at the Hamilton area between Eureka and Ely, and my cow elk tag is in the Kern Mountains some 80 miles north of Ely by the Ibapah indian Reservation.
