Scrap Metal HighbankerThis is about how I found some mic scrap metal and built a new highbanker after my son parked his truck on my old one.
I like a larger grizzly area so I can stand back 10 feet or so and still hit the classifier. The Keene models require you to drop the gravel in through the top and to me slows the main process down, move yardage is the key.
So here is $22 worth on scrap picked out of the local recycle. 2" conduit, aluminum flashing, old ironing board, piece of 3/4" conduit. I bought mic 1/4" bolts and I had the roll of tie wire.
Close up of the ironing board. Nice find.
Here are the 1" PVC pipe fittings and it took a 10' piece of 1" pipe and 1 small can of PVC glue. Cost = $16
Here is a picture of the rough frame.
The bottom trough under the classifier.
The sides and water sprayer bar.
The water connection for 1 1/2 " hose.
The lower trough transfer to the sluicebox.
Up the sluice view.
The opening from grizzly to sluice.
The finished product.
Total cost $45 + 12 pack of BUD.
It weighs about 40 pounds but is strong as heck. The first thing I will replace in the expanded metal for the classifier. The ironing board metal is 1/2"x3/4" eye's and light gauge. I will change to 1/8" thick 3/4"x1 1/4" size openings "eyes".
I added a piece of rubber back carpet to the front side where the water line comes through because I ran out of flashing.
The sluice box is 14" x 4' off of my 3" dredge.
It might be a little rough to look at, but I'm going to throw rocks at it anyway.
Patend NOT pending.

Just goes to show what you can do with a little scrape metel and a little
smarts. If it works, who cares what it looks like. Good job... AZ

That's quite a custom grizzly, I bet you can really move the dirt with that set-up. The ironing board also looks like it was made to classify gravel. It almost makes me want to sell my set-up and build my own.
