Stone Knives and ArrowheadsThought I would share more of my work. Here are a few samples.
Flintknapping has been a very rewarding hobby and hope that prospecting will be as rewarding.

Thanks buzzard.
It's not to late to learn. I know quite a few guys that are in thier 70's and one old boy is 80 something. I took to it pretty quick after watching some videos and won a trophy in my first year and 2 masters trophies after that. I closed my site down for awhile because it had turned into a job.But I do have all the videos, tools, and rock for sale.
I'm on the gold quest now but will still play with the rocks,it's been good to me.

Beautiful work. Its something I've always wanted to learn as well - maybe someday. A retirement project.

Hey GenoVery nice work better than anything I've done............I and my older brother were shown how to knapp arrowheads and we did for a while ,,,he made some pretty good money selling what we made..mainly necklaces and earrings and sold them as combos......Not saying he didnt make some himself,he made more then we could in a few hours...........But if you need some rock I do have some.. but am afraid to cut it with my saw since it's to small...the saw that is,,It is some solid what I would call chirt but does have some darker layered colors in it........The size of one is....18"L x 9"w x6" thick that will be in the first pic,,,the second pic will be a smaller sample but from a differrent place it measures 4 1/2" W 6"L 3" thick...................Let me know what you think if you want some tell me................Mike

Ok I screwed upSorry the second pic was of my....as my wife calls them SOBN rocks that I have all around and inside the house..To dark now to get the pic of the smaller one....................but if you'd like I will send.........I know a place to get obsidian If you are ever in need up to a good 15-16 inches long and thick enough to knapp............Or If you want just find the real thing and you dont have to work at it.....I know where the camps were, I know of unknown pictos, caves and campsites around this area...........and some others.................
...wanna know just ask..........I love the mountains......

Hello Sklybones,
I don't need any rock. I have tons of it. But there are alot of places in your area that I would like to go and check out. Your real close to alot of good material as well as good prospecting places to check out.
Flintknapping has been great to me, but it turned into a job and I was getting burned out, so I closed my website for awhile.

Geno:
That's pretty impressive work. I thought about knapping years ago but never did. Is any kind of material easier or better suited then another? I've alway thought Obsidan was about the only thing you could use. Obviously you're using other materials.
