Carry on baggage you can take lithium batteries if they contain less that 8 grams of lithium in them. they said 8 grams battery equals about 100 watt-hours of power.
Example 11.1 volts and 7800mAH
11.1 V times 7800mAH divided by 1000 equals 86.58 watt-hours.
A laptop exploded at LAX this pass year and have had other trouble with the lithium in the pass.
The link is FAA Battery Rules 2008.So check it out before planing a trip with your detector and no batteries.
This was on the net news today!
