|
|
A local Boise company called Apex Picks is marketing a "new" innovative line of picks for us serious nugget hunters.
I've had mine a short time, but it's easy to see that allot of thought went into it.
As I grow older, fatigue plays an increasing role in how successful my nugget hunting trips are.
The more time I spend chasing tiny pieces of rusty iron around the ground, the less time & energy I have left to hunt for nuggets.
This the first manufacturer I've seen to offer us nugget hunters a tool with '3' super-magnet mounting rings spread-out on both sides of the head.
This new pick design provides a much stronger and wider pull-area to remove iron from the soil.
My favorite is the mid-sized Talon model with a 30" handle, it should also help steady my 65 year old carcus up & down the gullies.
My back yard testing shows it will recover much more trash in one side-sweep, than my old pick did in numerous sweeps.
If your interested in a closer look, check out their website at www.apexpicks.com
Happy hunting,
Chuck T.

Hi all,
By a quirk, I came across the Apex picks quite by accident, found out what the company had to offer, and wound up with the Talon as well.
It is interesting how these picks were tested during their development. The engineers (yes, they ARE professional engineers, not just a handle they hung on themselves) wanted to put out the very BEST product they could, with the needs of gold prospectors or anyone in need of a primo digging tool in mind, U.S. manufactured with the best 100% US of A components, made to the companies specifications. The pick prototypes were tested with destruction in mind if that were reasonably possible.
I have in my collection, just about all picks that have been available in the past 10 years, the most expensive and heavy Walco included. I never put expense as a consideration, I simply wanted the best that could be had. I must tell you,
that the Apex pick, with its innovative magnet and protective retention ring system, is the BEST pick I have ever owned...BAR NONE! The fit and finish is without equal, and while that does not a great pick make, it does tell me that the company wants to make every effort to construct a great product in all respects.
Nope, I am not a lackey of the Apex pick folk, I am just someone that has found an EXCELLENT pick, and wanted to tell what I know.
Thanks!
